It is also home to the last two northern white rhinos on the planet, Najin and Fatu. It spans approximately 90,000 acres and stands as a testament to successful wildlife conservation.

Itinerary

Day 1

Nairobi - Ol Pajeta

Morning:

  • Depart from Nairobi, journeying north through Kenya’s picturesque landscapes, characterized by lush tea and coffee plantations. The drive to Ol Pejeta typically takes about 3 to 4 hours

Afternoon:

  • Upon arrival, check into your chosen accommodation. Options range from luxury tented camps to more budget-friendly lodges, catering to various preferences and budgets.

Late Afternoon:

  • Embark on your first game drive. This initial exploration offers the chance to acquaint yourself with the conservancy’s rich biodiversity, including sightings of elephants, buffalo, and a variety of antelope species.

Evening:

  • Return to your accommodation for dinner. Relax and enjoy the serene ambiance of the African bush, perhaps sharing stories around a campfire.

Day 2

Ol Pajeta

Early Morning:

  • Set out on a dawn game drive when wildlife is most active. The cool morning hours increase the likelihood of spotting predators such as lions and leopards on the move.

Mid-Morning:

  • Visit the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the only place in Kenya where these primates can be seen. Established in collaboration with the Jane Goodall Institute, the sanctuary provides a haven for orphaned and rescued chimpanzees.

Afternoon:

  • After lunch, engage in a guided bush walk. This offers a more intimate perspective of the ecosystem, allowing you to learn about the flora, track animal footprints, and observe smaller fauna often overlooked during drives.

Evening:

  • Opt for a night game drive to experience the conservancy’s nocturnal life. This unique activity provides opportunities to spot elusive creatures such as aardvarks, bush babies, and nocturnal predators.

Day 3

Ol Pajeta - Nairobi

Morning:

  • Participate in a behind-the-scenes conservation tour. Gain insights into the conservancy’s efforts to protect endangered species, including their pioneering work in rhino conservation and community outreach programs.

Late Morning:

  • Enjoy a leisurely breakfast, followed by time at your own pace. You might choose to visit the visitor center for souvenirs or simply relax and absorb the tranquil environment.

Afternoon:

  • Check out of your accommodation and commence the return journey to Nairobi, carrying with you memories of an enriching wildlife experience.
