Samburu National Reserve, located in Northern Kenya in a 165km² protected area renowned for its unique wildlife and stunning landscapes. The National reserve lies along the banks of the Ewaso Ng’iro River, which provides a vital water source for the region’s flora and fauna. The reserve also home to the Samburu Special 5, that is the Grevy’s zebra, gerenuk, Beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, and Somali ostrich.

Itinerary

Day 1

Nairobi - Samburu

Morning:

Depart from Nairobi, embarking on a scenic drive to Samburu National Reserve, approximately 6 hours away. Arrive in time for lunch at your selected lodge or tented camp.

Afternoon:

After settling in, proceed for an afternoon game drive. Explore the reserve’s northern region, focusing on sightings of the “Samburu Special Five” and other wildlife.

Evening:

Return to the lodge for dinner and an evening at leisure, perhaps enjoying traditional Samburu cultural performances.

Day 2

Samburu

Morning:

Set out on an early morning game drive when wildlife is most active. Visit the Ewaso Ng’iro River to observe elephants and other animals congregating at the water source.

Midday:

Return to the lodge for breakfast and some relaxation.

Afternoon:

After lunch, embark on another game drive, exploring different sections of the reserve. Keep an eye out for predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards.
